Blessing before Eating Bread (Challah)
Hold the two challah loaves together and say:
Barukh atah Adonai Eloheinu melekh ha-olam, ha-motzi lechem min-ha’aretz.
Blessed are You, LORD our God, King of the Universe, who brings forth bread from the earth.
Cut slices of one challah loaf (enough slices for each guest to take one) and sprinkle salt over them or dip one slice into salt and then eat the slice. Pass the tray with slices and salt to others.
Begin the meal!
